Coca-Cola sells about 180 low and no-calorie drinks, works to produce better-tasting low-calorie sweeteners and has introduced smaller can sizes.
It also reminds viewers that “all calories count no matter where they come from” and that “if you eat and drink more calories than you burn off, you’ll gain weight.”

The cells just can’t take it up, so it goes to the liver, where it is then deposited as fat… you read that correctly, fructose ends up as stored fat in the human body.
In a small study, Texas researchers showed that the body converts fructose to body fat with “surprising speed,” said Elizabeth Parks, associate professor of clinical nutrition at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, in a press release. The study, which appears in The Journal of Nutrition, shows how glucose and fructose, which are forms of sugar, are metabolized differently.
In humans, triglycerides, which are a type of fat in the blood, are mostly formed in the liver. Dr. Parks said the liver acts like “a traffic cop” who coordinates how the body uses dietary sugars. When the liver encounters glucose, it decides whether the body needs to store it, burn it for energy or turn it into triglycerides.
But when fructose enters the body, it bypasses the process and ends up being quickly converted to body fat. (source)

The majority of the non sugar sweeteners found in diet drinks sold by companies like Coca Cola are merely chemical cocktails which attempt to fool your brain into believing you have just consumed a sugary drink. But your brain is not really confused, it seems it can tell the difference between sugar and artificial chemical sweeteners. ERGO – you don’t really consume less leading to the hoped for weight loss. I hate to say this but look around (sadly) at the number of people drinking low cal soft drinks and calculate their body mass index – do they all really look like Twiggy?
Coca Cola would have you believe that simply by drinking their diet soft drinks, you will not gain additional weight…… Do yourself a favour and use your favourite search engine, looking at the terms diet soda and weight gain. There is a war going on right now in this area, and you are the ultimate victim.
Your dollars are wanted – to buy these soft drinks and other artificially sweetened foods and beverages.
