One Stop Shopping

Ladies and Gentlemen, allow us to announce a new facet of one stop shopping.

Gone are the days when a doctor will advise you to make life style changes to improve your health, instead you will be able to order your Lipitor with a side of Burger and Fries!

Talk about a new marketing ploy! Drug reps will now be spending time at your favourite fast food chains and take-away stores, pushing their ‘quick fix’ drugs to medically uneducated burger ‘flippers’ and salt shaker fillers.

No longer will you have to take responsibility for the way you treat your body. No longer will you be held accountable for the damage and destruction happening within every cell membrane.

Eat anything and everything that takes your fancy, and pop a pill to control the chemical suicide happening within.

One has to wonder if, along with each take away bag, a Lipitor package insert will be included, warning of the dangers Statin Medications will do to your body.

Once upon a time, in a doctor’s surgery far far away, a caring doctor would take the time to explain to his or her patient the risks involved with eating fast foods, and processed foods as a staple diet. A diet that is predominantly made up of fried foods, heavy starches, grains, sugars and manufactured fats “will kill you”.

That seems to be OK these days though – just pop a pill, and off you go! ‘You will be fit as a fiddle or as right as rain.’

Oh did I forget to mention the BARGAIN? Well of course, you get the statin (drug) free of charge!

Billy E, writing at NephroPal Blog today says this:

Just when I thought that we were making big strides in eliminating the use of statin drugs relative to heart disease, and their horrific side effects, it seems that the tug of war is ongoing. Statin use is still being prescribed in a big way by the brainwashed doctors who are being educated by pharmaceutical companies who send out a bevy of beauties called drug reps. The job of these so called drug reps is to get the doctors to give out free samples to their patients so that they will continue buying their companies specific brand of drugs. This turns good doctors into high class drug pushers.

I know of a hospital in Florida that has a McDonald’s fast food restaurant in their lobby. Now after reading the below summary, you will have a new meaning to one stop shopping. If this is put in place by fast food companies, the new slogan for unhealthy fast food restaurants could well be “ Today’s Health Special: big burger, shake, and a Statin!”

While it isn’t mentioned in the study, what are the odds that the research was paid for by big Pharma?

Summarized by Billy E
Researchers at Imperial College London suggest that fast food outlets should provide statins free of charge to neutralize the heart disease dangers of fatty foods. This data is based on a Meta-analysis of seven randomized controlled studies. In a paper published in the American Journal of Cardiology, Dr. Darrel Francis and colleagues calculate that the reduction in cardiovascular risk offered by statins is enough to offset the increase in risk from eating a cheeseburger and milk shake.

The senior author of the study Dr. Francis from the National Heart and Lung Institute at Imperial College London said: “Statins do not cut out all the unhealthy effects of eating burgers and fries. But we have worked out that taking a statin can reduce your risk of having a heart attach to be no more or less the same degree as a fast food meal increases it.”

One statin, simvastatin, is already available in low doses (10mg) over the counter. Its ironic that people are free to take as many unhealthy condiments in fast food outlets as they like, but statins need a prescription Dr. Francis said.

When people engage in risky behaviors, they are encouraged to take measures to minimize their risks. Taking a statin is a rational way of minimizing risk. The results showed that most statin regimes are able to compensate for the relative risk increase from eating a cheeseburger and a small milk shake.

I am truly amazed – baffled might be a better word here, what with the amassed information, showing the dangerous side effects of (a) fried, fast, processed foods and (b) Statin Medications, that the general public would fall for this (seemingly obvious) ploy from the drug companies.

I ask you Dear Readers, to do your research, learn about your body and the food manufacturing industry. Learn about the drugs the Pharmaceutical companies and Medical Doctors want to push onto you.

Take full responsibility for what goes into your body. If it’s good and fresh, excellent…… if its manufactured, processed fast food,…. forget it, as it is full of toxic chemicals that will, in time kill you from the inside out!

You won’t need drugs (except in emergency life saving events) if you care properly and take full responsibility for what you eat.

A Burger with fries on the side plus an OTC Statin is a death warrant.

Spend some time reading stories here – I believe you will be nicely surprised.
